KUBINCAN at the Munich BeerfestKUBINCAN, together with the Slovak folkgroup ORAVA, were picked as the sole representation for Slovakia, at the 2001 Munich Beer Festival. This is an account of that weekend. Friday 21st September - We set off from Dolny Kubin, Orava, at 1.00 a.m., on Friday morning, expecting to arrive at Schliersee, Germany, at about 2 p.m. Once we arrived at Schliersee, we would be invited for a meal of Gulas, at the house of the groups' "Godparents".
The first comfort stop on our journey was at 4 a.m. It was here that a bottle of Slivovicka, was passed around the coach. This helped us all to sleep until the next stop, in Austria. During the remainder of the journey, ORAVA sang traditional folk songs. Saturday 22nd September 2002 >> |
