Wooden Colonnade Bridge
The 120 metre long Wooden Colonnade Bridge is probably Dolny Kubin’s most well-known monument and is quite unusual in that it is almost entirely made out of wood (only the foundations that support the bridge are made out of concrete).
Spanning over the River Orava and connecting the town centre with the district of Veľký Bysterec, the wooden bridge claims to be the longest bridge of its kind in Central Europe.
During the day, the bridge is home to a number of kiosks, selling a variety of souvenirs and trinkets. At night time, the bridge is lit up, providing the perfect place for a romantic walk across the river.
The iconic image of the wooden bridge, with the River Orava running beneath it and overlooked by the stunning mountain Veľký Choč, was the inspiration behind the DolnyKubin.com logo.
